I love downtown San Diego, but nothing beats downtown LA. It still has a stigma of being a slum of bums and rundown buildings, but it has since gone through some gentrification (as many “downtowns” have). And thanks to a little movie called “500 Days of Summer,” DTLA has been romanticized as a city of unique art, foreign film, karaoke, and lonely benches. When I am in DTLA, I feel like I am in an actual city - and there is no need for a car. Just walk or hop the metro. How I miss it there and wish to live there as soon as I get everything straightened out.
